Rao Konidena is an independent energy consultant who helps clients bridge technical, policy, and regulatory perspectives across U.S. wholesale electricity markets. Through Rakon Energy® LLC, he provides expert testimony, regulatory strategy, and training for consumer advocates, environmental organizations, renewable developers, and public agencies navigating complex market design and transmission planning issues.

Rao’s work is grounded in collaboration and trust built over years of engagement with leading policy experts, advocacy organizations, and grid operators. Clients value his ability to translate market design details into actionable strategies that align public-interest goals with industry realities.

Before founding Rakon Energy, Rao served as Principal Advisor for Policy Studies at the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), where he led initiatives on energy storage, distributed energy resources (DERs), and long-range transmission planning.

Rao is on the Board of Ever Green Energy and the Center for Renewables Integration.
